2011 "failed states index" ranked first for four consecutive years to Somalia because of the sectarian violence in the country's internal conflicts, displaced people, inefficient government, rampant terrorism, rampant crime, human rights and justice failed, weak economic conditions .

"Failed states index" published annually since 2005, this year a total of 177 countries surveyed worldwide, the index study of economic, social, military, security and other key indicators and more than 12 100 secondary targets, a comprehensive assessment. Somalia after the "failed state" 2 to 10 rankings were: Chad, Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, Central African Republic, Iraq and Ivory Coast.
